Form, Flexibility and Function for QSR Restaurants

Embed Digital showcases Videri at the National Restaurant show in Chicago May 18-21, Booth #9160

If you’re in the restaurant business, you know that digital is taking over from paper and people as the primary vehicle of communication for menus, promotions, taking orders and more. And not just for large food chains anymore. Restaurant chains of all sizes and even your local restaurants are using digital for communications and customer service.

Embed Digital is a leader in turn-key restaurant digital signage solutions, including content creation, installation and management. In 2019 they launched their Digital Menu Controller (DMC) software, the industry’s most streamlined, hassle-free technology that allows restaurants to make real-time text and data changes on digital menu signs without complex processes or technical training.

So how did we become partners and why will we be featured in their booth at NRA this year?

“I first saw Videri at Infocomm in 2023, and I was struck by how perfect their slim, beautiful digital display looked for digital menus,” says Mike Sisco, CEO and co-founder of Embed. “I had not seen any displays like it in the market up to that point. The restaurant industry was increasingly shifting to digital, and my customers have often been frustrated at the lack of flexibility in display sizes, as well as how to hide external media players, cables, fixtures and more. I was on the hunt for an easier, simpler approach. Space in QSRs is at a premium so every efficiency matters. And with a simple mount and single plug, easy management, I mean it’s kind of a no-brainer for restaurants.”

Videri Digital Canvases use custom built android-based firmware, and their content and device management system can work with apps and APKs. Another thing that appealed to the team at Embed is the ability to install and manage other manufacturer screens alongside Videri, for example touch screens and other displays that aren’t in Videri’s wheelhouse, without having to use a separate CMS.

“Videri doesn’t try to be everything to everyone,” says Mike. “They have a sweet spot, and they are perfect for QSR installs where space at a premium (and when isn’t it really?), where power use should be minimal, and when users need to easily update menu items, pricing and more on the fly.”

Videri and Embed both focus on flexibility, simplicity and ease-of-use for QSRs. Together, they offer the ideal pairing of sleek, ultra-slim, flush mounted digital displays with intuitive digital menu control software, which can be put anywhere you need them to go. Videri’s unique and versatile form factor with System on Chip (SoC) technology and cloud connectivity remove the need for external equipment, so Videri Canvases can run the DMC in new spaces and unusual places. Hanging from the ceiling. On your countertop. And of course, on the wall.

Videri offers the ideal “Canvas” for the DMC software. Their form, flexibility and function are truly the impetus for the partnership between Embed Digital and Videri.

Canvases running Embed’s DMC will be on display May 18-21, 2024 at the National Restaurant Association Show.

About Embed DMC

Embed’s DMC uses an intuitive, web-based interface. It’s ideal for restaurants, specifically fast casual and quick serve establishments, as it was designed for ease of use and enables restaurant operators to make instant updates to their menu items, including item name, description, price and more. With the growth of dynamic pricing this is a critical factor in helping restaurants be more efficient.

The Dynamic Menu Controller’s intuitive interface was designed to empower the entire restaurant staff, only requiring permissions from the operator and manual entry from a tablet device. From one device, restaurant staff members are able to update pricing and other attributes, like nutrition facts and menu item positioning, for multiple locations all from a single, tablet-based control.

Edge-Lit TVs are on the hot seat. How does Videri keep its cool?

In a recent study by RTING, edge-lit TVs were identified as prone to significant durability issues due to concentrated heat which caused “uniformity problems” such as warped reflector sheets, cracked light guide plates, and burnt-out LEDs. The study concluded that these TVs posed a significant risk to long-term reliability. When it comes to thin digital displays, heat dissipation is paramount to the longevity of the product. No one knows that better than Omar Barake, SVP of Hardware and Engineering at Videri. We asked him how Videri kept its cool.
